Light Verse
Light verse is poetry that focuses on being humorous, funny, 'tricky' and clever. Poems considered "light" are usually brief, and can be on a frivolous or serious subject, and often feature wordplay, puns, adventurous rhymes and heavy alliteration. Good examples are Edward Lear’s “The Owl and the Pussy-Cat” and Lewis Carroll’s “The Walrus and the Carpenter.” The poems can take many forms.
